In February 1948, Baya received a tribute in Vogue Paris. It was Picasso, inevitably, that gave Baya her chief claim to global fame. She befriended him while working as artist-in-residence at the Madoura pottery in Vallauris, southern France, which also produced Picasso's own ceramics.
